Miss Mt Nebo
The Miss Mt. Nebo Competition began on May 19, 1979, during the 31st Annual Mt. Nebo Chicken Fry atop scenic Mount Nebo. Contestants competed on a flatbed trailer in swimwear, casual wear, and interview. That year, Rhonda Barton of Plainview was crowned the first Miss Mt. Nebo, with Kim Vernon and Vickie Robertson of Dardanelle named runners-up.
What began as a hometown celebration has grown into a respected tradition. Today, the Miss Mt. Nebo Competition is proudly sponsored by the Dardanelle Area Chamber of Commerce and serves as an official preliminary to the Miss Arkansas Competition.

The Miss Mt. Nebo and Miss Mt. Nebo Teen Competitions provide young women with opportunities to build confidence, strengthen interview skills, and develop poise and presentation abilities that benefit them far beyond the stage.

Through participation in the Miss Arkansas Organization at both the local and state levels, contestants gain valuable experience in:
- Professional interviews
- Talent performance
- Public speaking
- Promoting community service initiatives
- Positive and professional social media engagement
These experiences prepare participants for job interviews, academic organizations, leadership roles, and lifelong success.
Cash and in-kind educational scholarships are available to young women who advance to the Miss Arkansas Competition.
To become a Miss Arkansas contestant, participants must win a local preliminary competition, such as Miss Mt. Nebo, or apply at the end of the competition season to compete as an At-Large contestant.
Eligibility:
Miss Mt. Nebo: Open to contestants from Conway, Franklin, Johnson, Logan, Perry, Pope, Sebastian, and Yell counties.
Miss Mt. Nebo Teen: Open statewide to all eligible participants across Arkansas.
This event celebrates ambition, talent, service, and scholarship while providing the opportunity to advance to the Miss Arkansas and Miss Arkansas Teen Competitions.
Lil' Miss Mt Nebo
The Lil’ Miss Mt. Nebo Competition celebrates young girls ages 0–13 in a fun, encouraging, and age-appropriate environment. Designed to build confidence and community pride, this event allows each participant to shine while creating lasting memories and friendships.
