Lake Dardanelle

The lake was constructed under the supervision of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Little Rock District. The lake is one of the most accessible and attractive recreation areas in Arkansas. With the city of Dardanelle and Lake Dardanelle being located about half-way between Little Rock and Fort Smith it makes it a short drive from either border of the state.

Lake Dardanelle is extremely popular with anglers, with its 34,000 acres of fishing waters and 315 miles of shoreline it becomes a prime choice of picnic and camping areas, offers many recreational opportunities. Most all of the Parks offer drinking water, toilet facilities, boat launching ramps, parking areas, and tables. Several have trailer dump stations, electrical outlets and group picnic areas. Lake Dardanelle welcomes visitors to its shorelines year round. And while you are fishing the lake make sure you always keep an eye on the sky, the River Valley area of the lake is a favorite wintering area for the American Bald Eagle. Just one of the added attractions the lake brings to the Dardanelle area.

The lake provides an excellent environment for bream fishing and is stocked with crappie and largemouth bass. With no closed season and mild winters, fishing is good year round. The lake has one of the most consistent bass habitats in the Arkansas River system. Experts will tell you that Lake Dardanelle at Dardanelle and Russellville toward the upper end of the river is the place to go for the big largemouth.

Lake Dardanelle is also perhaps the best Arkansas River striper pool. Twenty-pound-plus stripers are always possible, and 2 to 6-pound bass are common.
