2017 Chocolate Festival The date for the 2017 Chocolate Festival has been set for Friday, July 14, 2017. The event will take place at the Dardanelle Community Center from 5:00-8:30 pm. This years festival will benefit The Lizard Lunch Room Fund. This fund will help pay the outstanding lunchroom balances of kids in the Dardanelle School District. Quacks like a Duck, Taste like Chicken Maverick Dunn and his wife, Elizabeth, have a heart for Dardanelle and the people here. Together they operate Custom Engraved Keepsakes & Gifts on Front Street. The store also houses Maverick's other love, Dunn Callin, local duck hunters favorite duck calling store. The Dunn's want to bring tourism to Dardanelle to show off our great duck hunting spots, specially in the Cardon Bottoms. Chicken Fried 10K The course is hilly and tough, probably more hills than there are flat areas. Hills meaning uphill and downhill. The first 3.5 miles will be rolling hills to the base of Mt Nebo. From there, its 2.5 miles of torture up Mt Nebo. We give you a little break for the final .2 miles of flat ground to the finish. Motorcycle Show at Mt Nebo Chicken Fry When planning the Motorcycle Show for the 70th Annual Mt Nebo Chicken Fry, I asked Ron Peters if there was a specific cause he wanted to benefit from registration fees. Hoping it would turn into a Poker Run. I didn't anticipate Ron's reply. Instead of watching motorcycle's race off to have a draw at a lucky hand, we've decided to tell stories of family members lost due to suicide. Ron had recently lost a close friend to suicide.
